ASCAP The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) is a membership association of more than 420,000 U.S. composers, songwriters, lyricists, and music publishers of every kind of music. .  BMI Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) collects license fees on behalf of songwriters, composers and music publishers and distributes them as royalties to those members whose works have been performed.    Audacity: Free Audio Editor and Recorder Audacity is a free, easy-to-use and multilingual audio editor and recorder for Windows, Mac OS X, GNU/Linux and other operating systems. You can use Audacity to: Record live audio. Convert tapes and records into digital recordings or CDs. Edit Ogg Vorbis, MP3, WAV or AIFF sound files. Cut, copy, splice or mix sounds together. Change the speed or pitch of a recording.
